Bronze Saints[edit | hide | hide all]
Pegasus Seiya[edit | hide]
Voiced by: Tohru Furuya (1986-2004, 2012-present JP), Masakazu Morita (2005-2011 JP), Illich Guardiola (EN), Eric Legrand (FR), Jesus Barrero and Irwin Daayan (Latin American Spanish), Carlos Lladó (Spain), Ivo De Palma (ITA), Jefferson Utanes (Tagalog), Hermes Baroli (BR), Rogério Jacques (PT)[edit | hide]
- A Friend in Need: He has several.
- With Shun, he broke Shun's chain and allowed himself to fall in order for Shun to defend himself.
- He brought back the magic water to heal Shiryu's eyes (Anime Only).
- Went back for Saori when she was being attacked by Silver Saints.
- Bodyguard Crush: Apparently, on Saori.
- Brown Eyes
- Calling Your Attacks
- Pegasus Ryu Sei Ken (Pegasus Meteor Fist): Fires several punches in the form of meteors.
- Pegasus Sui Sei Ken (Pegasus Comet Fist): He focuses his punches into one single point to create a comet.
- Pegasus Rolling Crush: Lifts his opponent into the air and slams their head into the ground.
- Determinator/HeroicWillpower: HOLY ATHENA. This guy just doesn't quit
- Dub Name Change: Simply 'Pegasus' in Italy.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Moreso in the beginning.
- It Only Works Once: Ryu Sei Ken!!
- Limited Wardrobe: Get used to the red shirt and jean combination.
- Manly Tears: The guy often cries for either his friends or his rivals.
- Not a Morning Person: Lampshaded by Hyoga while he and the others were waiting for Shun by the airplane.
- Pegasus: His guiding constellation and Cloth.
- Rapid-Fire Fisticuffs: He's the main picture of this trope.
- Pummel Duel: With Aioria.
- Red Oni, Blue Oni: Red to Shiryu.
- Take a Third Option: His Suicidal Gotcha versus Shaina and Jamian.
- Wouldn't Hit a Girl: And it causes him lots of trouble, actually. Just ask Shaina what she thinks of this!
Dragon Shiryu[edit | hide]
Voiced by: Hirotaka Suzuoki (1986-2004 JP), Takahiro Sakurai (2005 JP), Jay Hickman (EN), Marc François (FR), Enrique Hernández (Spain), Ricardo Mendoza and Christian Strempler (Latin American Spanish), Marco Balzarotti (ITA), Elcio Sodré (BR), Ely Martin (Tagalog), Nuno Távora (PT)[edit | hide]
- A Friend in Need: In one of the saddest moments of the series he blinded himself to defeat Perseus Algol and save his friends.
- Barrier Warrior: Was this in the beginning, as he relied a lot on his verypowerful shield.
- Beware the Nice Ones: Is very level-headed, kind, and soft-spoken when off-duty..
- Berserk Button: But attack or insult his friends, Saori or his sister Shunrei, and you'll have a Screaming Warrior punching the living Hell out of you. Deathmask learnt it the hard way!
- Calling Your Attacks
- Rozan Shōryūha (Rozan's Rising Dragon Force): His signature uppercut.
- Rozan Ryūhishō (Rozan's Dragon Flight): Punches forward as if flying.
- Dragon no Ken (Dragon's Kick): This is the one he used on Cancer Deathmask (before he stops him with one finger).
- Rozan Hyakuryūha (Rozan's One Hundred Dragons Force): A hundred dragons made of cosmos come out.
- Rozan Kōryūha (Rozan's Enraged Dragon Force ): A kamikaze attack where Shiryu sends both him and the unlucky soul Shura into outer space thus killing them both Shiryu survived it afterwards.
- Excalibur: A move given by Capricorn Shura that allows him to focus his cosmos into a blade that is capable of cutting anything.
- Characterization Marches On: Was much cockier in his first appearances.
- Chinese People: Subverted, he's got many character traits but is ethnically Japanese.
- Disability Superpower: More like Handicapped Badass. After blinding himself in the fight against the Perseus saint, he retrains with his master and no longer needs his eyes to fight. Understandable since all saints have a sixth and seventh sense.
- Eye Scream: Plucked his own eyes out to fight against a guy who has a Medusa-inspired shield that almost petrified him, Seiya and Shun. And yeah, before you ask, he did try closing his eyes and blindfolding himself: neither alternative worked, and he had half his body petrified already.
- Fight in The Nude: Not literally, he just tends to voluntarily remove his armor more often than the rest of the cast.
- Genius Bruiser: Quite well-versed in legends and myths, pretty good at Indy Ploys, and The Lancer to Seiya's Idiot Hero.
- Handicapped Badass: Has been blinded more than once in the series, without losing his status as one of the most capable Bronze Saints.
- Hit Points: His back tattoo works as a life bar; the more faded it looks, the closer to death he is.
- I Owe You My Life: Seiya saved him from dying in the beginning, so Shiryu has a huge soft spot for him.
- Taking You with Me: To Capricorn Shura with a Dangerous Forbidden Technique. A dying Shura accept his mistakes and save Shiryu's life.
- Limited Wardrobe: Same white Chinese outfit even if he'll strip out of them five minutes later.
- Nice Guy: So much that he could count for a Rare Male Example of a Yamato Nadeshiko.
- Overdrawn At the Blood Bank: To ridiculous levels.
- Power Tattoo: A dragon on his back, which grows fainter when he's near death.
- Rapunzel Hair: His black hair reaches his knees.
- Red Oni, Blue Oni: Blue to Seiya, Ohko and Young Dhoko.
- Also possibly Red to Hyoga's blue.
- Walking Shirtless Scene: When he takes off his armor.
Cygnus Hyoga[edit | hide]
Voiced by: Koichi Hashimoto (1986-2004 JP), Hiroaki Miura (2005 JP), Jason Douglas (EN), Marc François (FR), Oscar Redondo (Spain), Rene Garcia and Luis Daniel Ramirez (Latin American Spanish), Mark Aspiras (Tagalog), Francisco Brêtas (BR), António Semedo (PT)[edit | hide]
- Animal Motifs: Swans
- Blond Guys Are Evil: Averted, he's a good guy. Though he was more of a jerk at first - his defreezing was very fast, tho.
- Blue Eye(s): Determining if he's wearing his bandage or not.
- But Not Too Foreign: Half Japanese, half Russian.
- Eye Scream: Willingly lets Isaac hit his right eye as atonement.
- Calling Your Attacks: In the anime, Hyoga says his attacks in English, but in Russian in the manga.
- Diamond Dust: His main attack. He sends bursts of cosmos into the air to cool it (possibly to draw air moisture) before unleashing a focus burst of cosmos that will freeze his opponents.
- Ice Ring (Koĺtso): Hyoga creates an ice ring that surrounds and paralyzes the opponent.
- Aurora Thunder Attack: Anime only, he fires multiple Diamond Dusts at his opponent (Anime variation of manga's Kholodnyj Smerčh.)
- Aurora Execution: The strongest form of Diamond Dust where the cosmos itself reaches absolute zero and is capable of freezing and killing the Gold Saint, Aquarius Camus.
- Freezing Coffin: An ability that will freeze an opponent in an unbreakable block of ice for a hundred years unless the cosmos of the oppenent or someone from the outside can match it.
- Freezing Fists: Anime only. A technique where Hyoga would either slide or leap toward his opponent and touch their legs to freeze them in place. This move uses a lot of cosmos and leaves Hyoga open for an attack.
- Not to mention, Hyoga is Genre Savvy enough to know how Freezing Fists only seems to work on very specific enemies: Mighty Glaciers or Stone Walls, due to lack of mobility and speed. The Crystal Saint, however, is fast and flexible enough to not have his handicap, using his legs to apply this to Hyoga himself.
- Dub Name Change: In Italy he's known as 'Crystal'.
- Forgotten Fallen Friend: Averted, he's the only bronzie who misses his parents.. albeit, that's because he's the only who knew a parent, they're all orphans.
- Frozen Flower
- Cry Cute and When He Smiles: He almost never cries or smiles, but when either happens.. boy, it's a sight to behold.
- I Did What I Had to Do: He gets on the receiving end of it when Camus does it.
- I Owe You My Life: Shun used his cosmos to warm up his body in the House of Libra. Hyoga says this pretty much word by word.
- It's All My Fault: Blames himself for Isaac's Eye Scream incident.
- Limited Wardrobe: Hyoga really loves his blue shirt, jeans and brown leggings.
- Meaningful Name: In Japanese it means 'glacier'.
- Mommy Issues: He still misses his dead mom, very much. He can't exactly be blamed: not only Natasha was a Hot Mom, but she actually sacrificed her life for him when he was a child.
- The Smart Guy: Shiryu's rival in regards to quick thinking.
- Obfuscating Disability: His eyepatch. Issac purposely missed and just caused some skin near it to bleed.
- Awesome but Impractical: It may look cool, but not only does he lose part of his side vision but depth perception as well. It is not worth wearing considering he has it for symbolic reasons.
- Surfer Dude: In the DiC dub, and it's hilarious.
Andromeda Shun[edit | hide]
Voiced by: Ryo Horikawa (1986-2004 JP), Yûta Kazuya(2005 JP), Chris Patton (EN), Serge Bourrier (FR), Jesús López (Spain), Jose Gilberto Vilchis and Alan Prieto (Latin American Spanish), Andrea De Nisco (ITA), Ulisses Bezerra (BR), Isabel Wolmar (episodes 1-73) and Marco Felgueiras (74-114)(PT)[edit | hide]
- Adaptation Dye Job: A brunette in the manga, green-haired in the anime.
- A Friend in Need: He warmed up Hyoga in the infamous House of Libra scene. He also gave up his Silver Star Necklace from his mother to pay Charon and allow him and Seiya to cross the river.
- Always Accurate Attack: Thunder Wave, as Shun stated, will always find its target and damages something.
- Awesome Yet Practical: The Nebula Chains.
- Evil Detecting Chains
- Badass Adorable: Cutest Bronze Saint ever.
- Beware the Nice Ones: 'You angered me, Saint. THAT WAS YOUR BIGGEST MISTAKE!' *bloodily kills Dark Andromeda*
- Beauty Equals Goodness: Extremely cute.. er, good looking. One of the good guys.
- Calling Your Attacks: Shun uses English for his attacks.
- Nebula Chain: His main attack. Most of the time he just swings his fist and it will strike and wrap around his opponent.
- Rolling Defense: This has two forms. He either spreads his chain with the circle end out in a spiral below his feet. Anything that approaches it will be immediately attacked. The other version is where his circle end goes around him in a large cylinder allowing him to use his triangle end to attack from the top.
- Andromeda Thunder Wave: A seek and destroy version of his Nebula Chain. This move is capable of transending dimensions to find its target.
- Nebula Stream: A technique that doesn't require his chains and the first of his unlimited cosmos attacks(attacks that the longer they are used the more they grow in strength rather than deminish over time). He causes his cosmos to swirl around and paralyze his enemy.
- Nebula Storm: Shun's most powerful attack. A deadly version of Nebula Stream where his cosmos swirls and combines into a destructive storm.
- Spider Net: Shun creates a literal spider net to catch things.
- Spiral Duct: Another capture move that wraps around his opponent (a more elaborate form of Nebula Chain).
- Casting Net: The chains weave themselves into a net and capture the opponent.
- Boomerang Shot: The triangle end aims at the opponent, curves around and strikes from behind.
- Wild Trap: The chains weave into a trap on the ground and then surround and clamp the opponent.
- Great Capture: Just like Nebula Chain but wraps around large opponents.
- Chained to a Rock: As per his representative myth, how he earned his cloth.
- The Chick: Strictly speaking, not him but his cloth is only one that's named after a human female. Also he's kinda effeminate and wears pink armor.
- Chick Magnet: This Cute Shotaro Boy, in his introduction, had so many screaming fangirls that Jabu couldn't help lampshading the trope all over.
- Curtains Match the Window: In the anime.
- Dangerous Forbidden Technique: Nebula Storm, which Shun only executes after his personal Godzilla Threshold is crossed.
- Dude in Distress: Though he's not completely incapable of fighting, Ikki routinely bails him out of tough battles. Note this becomes routine only in the Anime.
- Don't Say Such Stupid Things: From Kanon after Shun admitted he was tired of fighting and gave up.
- Florence Nightingale Effect: With Pandora when he is possessed by Hades.
- Innocent Blue Eyes: Manga only
- Intimate Healing: With Hyoga, in the anime.
- I Want to Be a Real Man: What Shun tells Seiya before his fight with Aphrodite.
- Limited Wardrobe: It figures that effeminate guy of the group adverts this. Shun's the only one in both the anime and manga to feature a greater variety of shirts, hooded shirts, pants his evil robes while possessed. Although he does enjoy his green shirt and white suspenders.
- Martyr Without a Cause: Yeah.. he'll offer enemies who are Anti Villains his life if it brings them closer to a Heel Face Turn, but it rarely works. Usually leads to Distressed Dude above.
- Let's not forget how he literally defrosted Hyoga the Human Popsicle.. and almost kicked it.
- Meaningful Name: Means 'an instant' as in how quickly he can change from offense to defense.
- Mind Control Eyes: When possessed by Hades.
- More Expendable Than You: Despite his peaceful nature he knocked out Shiryu to allow Ikki to kill him and leave everyone else alone.
- Not Drawn to Scale: Shun got a whole lot bigger once he's possessed by Hades. Could be blamed on how crappy the animation studio was.
- Reluctant Warrior: And HOW!
- Shower Scene: And lord, did the fangirls Squee.
- Sibling Yin-Yang: With Ikki.
- Silk Hiding Steel: Has many of the personality traits. Such as a peaceful nature hiding his strength or one of his techniques that involves setting a trap andn sprining when attacked.
- She's a Man In Japan: In the French dub, they thought Shun was a woman and used a female to dub his voice for the first episode.
- Thanatos Gambit: Shun accepted Hades' soul so he can be killed with Hades by Athena's saints. Too bad for him, his brother Ikki can't bring himself to do it.
- This Is Unforgivable! / You Monster!: To Lyumnades Kassa, for playing with people's feelings and loved ones.
Phoenix Ikki[edit | hide]
Voiced by: Hideyuki Hori (1986-2004 JP), Katsuyuki Konishi(2005 JP), Mike Mac Rae (EN), Henry Djanik (FR), Tasio Alonso (Spain), Marcos Patiño and Rafael Pacheco (Latin American Spanish), Tony Fuochi (ITA), Leonardo Camilo (BR), António Semedo (PT)[edit | hide]
- Adaptation Dye Job: Same as his brother's hair, but to dark blue.
- His Cloth was all Orange in the Manga, while in the anime it was first whtie and orange, and then all blue.
- Aloof Big Brother: Jerkass Facade
- Anti-Hero: type IV --> type III
- Being Tortured Makes You Evil: His experience from both the orphanage and on Death Queen Island caused him to go out and try to kill all of his friends and his little brother who he swore to protect in the past.
- Berserk Button: Don't harm Shun, lest he'll escort you to hell.
- Big Bad: the first in the manga.
- Big Brother Instinct: Only a couple of instances in the manga, a few more in the anime, but cranked up to the max in the movies.
- Calling Your Attacks
- Phoenix Illusion Demonic Fist (Phoenix Houou Guenma-Ken): His signature attack. The attack itself is about the size of a pin tip that attacks the mind, brings out one's deepest fears and will either leave the victim in a mental mess or kill them.
- Ascension of the Phoenix's Wings (Houyoku Tensho): An extremely strong cosmos punch that takes the form of a fiery bird.
- Curb Stomp Battle: Half of the time he appears, he'll deliver one to his opponent. Even one of the 3 judges of hell.
- Curtains Match the Window: In the anime.
- Don't You Dare Pity Me!: Pulls this on Shun right before his Heel Face Turn.
- Evil Counterpart: Pre- Heel Face Turn, to Shun.
- Florence Nightingale Effect: With Esmeralda.
- Ham-to-Ham Combat: ADV dub with Dante.
- Marcos Patiño's delivery of his line in the LA dub was Very, VERY Hammy.
- Hot-Blooded: Not as much as Seiya, but when he does let his hot blood run.. oh boooooy.
- Go Mad from the Revelation: The reason he's the 1st Big Bad in the manga. Mitsumasa Kido is the father of the 100 children sent to become saints. Ikki completely snaps.
- Jerkass --> Jerk with a Heart of Gold
- Knight Templar Big Brother: Do not ever look at Shun in a bad way. To a more limited extent, to the other Saints.
- Limited Wardrobe: Even when he was a kid, he wears nothing but a red shirt and black pants.
- Mind Rape: Phoenix Illusion Demonic Fist
- Not So Different: With Mime and Bud. Like Mime he was a mass of hatred, like Bud he tried to kill his brother. He uses this to great effect in both fights, using both verbal calls and his Mind Rape powers to both break them down and make them understand his poV.
- Roaring Rampage of Revenge: To Lyumnades Kassa, for trampling his brother Shun's fellings, along with Seiya's and Hyoga's. Cue Mind Rape.
- Sibling Yin-Yang: With Shun.
- So Proud of You: To Shun, when learned that Shun accepted Hades' soul so he can give an opening for the saints to kill him and Hades.
- Warrior Therapist: Especially in the Asgard Saga.
- Unexplained Recovery / Death Is Cheap: Just like his namesake, he will not stay dead, and routinely claws his way out of hell. However, this didn't do him much good when Virgo Shaka sent him to heaven.
Other Bronze Saints[edit | hide]

Yuuichi Meguro (1986-1989 JP), Hideo Ishikawa (2005 JP), Vic Mignogna (EN),Marc François and Serge Bourrier (FR), José Núñez and Luis Manuel Martín Díaz (Spain), Javier Rivero and Daniel Abundis(Latin America), Marcelo Campos (BR)[edit | hide]
- Bodyguard Crush: On Saori, and way more explicit than Seiya too.

- Can't Catch Up: Starts off as Seiya's rival but by the Twelve Houses Battles, Seiya has upgraded his Cloth twice, wore the Cloth of Sagittarius and reaches his seventh sense while Jabu only earned one move.
- Commuting on a Bus: Seemed like he was going to be rival to Seiya, but after the tournament, he only appears when he's needed.
- The Hero of his Five-Man Band
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He not only protected Saori when she was unconscious, but was the Barrier Maiden for Seika when she was being attacked by Thanatos.

- Visual Innuendo: The horn on his head, he's purple with metal Underwear of Power.
- Unlucky Childhood Friend: Sorta, to Saori.

Chameleon June[edit | hide]
Voiced By: Hiromi Tsuru (JP)[edit | hide]
- Animal Motifs: Chameleon
- Brother Chuck: The first time we see her, she fights Shun and loses.
- Anime Only: The second (and last) time she is in bed, talking to Marin. She hasn't appeared or been mentioned since.
- Hair of Gold
- With a set of Blue Eyes to go with it.
- Ms. Fanservice
- Leotard of Power: Her outfit on Andromeda Island.
- Non-Standard Character Design: Her armor covers more of her body than Marin's, Shaina's and even Yuzariha's combined (Manga Only).
- Stripperiffic: With Combat Stilettos.
- Shallow Love Interest: To Shun.
- Token Girl: Only female of the Bronze Saints, unless you count Shun.
Silver Saints[edit | hide]
Eagle/Aquila Marin[edit | hide]
Voiced By: Yuriko Yamamoto (JP), Monica Manjarrez (Latin America)[edit | hide]
- Action Girl: In the Manga.
- Faux Action Girl: In the Anime where she had to be rescued and lost almost every battle.
- Animal Motifs: Eagles.
- Blue Oni: To Shaina.
- Designated Girl Fight: In the anime with Shaina where Marin gets her butt kicked with soldiers watching. Strangely adverted in the Manga.
- Fake Defector: When she tried to protect Seiya by pretending to kill him and then burying him on the beach.
- Fiery Redhead: Averted, she's strongwilled but nowhere as impulsive as Seiya.
- Good Is Not Dumb: One of the few Silver Saints to distrust the Pope.
- Hot Amazon
- Mask Power: Like all female Saints.
- Long-Lost Relative: Memorably subverted.. she was very strongly hinted to be the grown-up Seika, but she wasn't.
- Mentor Occupational Hazard: Averted for now, but she's had a few close calls from having Seiya as a student.
- Sexy Mentor: To Seiya.
- Spanner in the Works: She derails Aphrodite's Batman Gambit by putting her mask on Seiya and pulling him away from the rose path. This gives Seiya the resolve and power to destroy it.
- Two Girls to a Team: Both her and Shaina.
- The Worf Effect: Despite being Seiya's mentor, the only battle she has won was against Asterion.
Ophiuchus Shaina[edit | hide]
Voiced By: Mami Koyama (JP)[edit | hide]
- Adaptation Dye Job: She has black hair in the manga.
- Animal Motifs: Snakes.
- Snakes Are Evil: Subverted. Her Cloth is that of the Snake Bearer and she's initially one of the most tenacious and vicious enemy of the Bronze saints. Post High Heel Face Turn, she becomes a valuable ally.
- Snakes Are Sexy: A lot of people in-universe point out how beautiful and sexy she is, despite her upfront bitchiness.
- Ax Crazy: Known for being the most violent and most powerful of all female Saints.
- Best Her to Bed Her: To Seiya, in a really heartbreaking way.
- Combat Stilettos: They can shatter the Earth..
- Defrosting Ice Queen: Sarcastic, confrontational and very bitchy.. until Seiya makes her reveal her much more pleasant inner self.
- Dub Name Change: 'Tisifone' in Italian.
- Evil Counterpart: Starts as this to Marin.
Seiya: 'Whoa, Shaina. I thought you were the devil in disguise, but you you don't look like it. You're a beauty, indeed.'
- Lady of War: When she stops being Ax Crazy.
- Plucky Girl: At first because of her Ax Crazy quotient, but after her High Heel Face Turn, she's more of the real deal.
- Red Oni: To Marin.
- Taking a Third Option: Subverted. She only haves two choices regarding Seiya. She must kill him or love him. The fact that Seiya doesn't seems to be in love with her is only making it harder for her.
- Statuesque Stunner: Played with. Her official stats give her a rather average height but the anime always makes her taller than the main Bronze Saints and as tall as most other male Saints.
- Taking the Bullet: For Seiya, several times.
- Two Girls to a Team: Both her and Marin.
- Woman Scorned: Sort of. Initially, Seiya never rejected her but his refusal of fighting her full force infuriates her to no end.
- Wolverine Claws: She just LOVES to use them!
Lyra Orpheus[edit | hide]
Voiced By: Hiroshi Kamiya (JP)[edit | hide]

- Palette Swap: A darker blue version with longer hair.
- Flower Motifs: Every time he runs, attacks, heck just about everything he does, flower petals rain all over the place.
- The area he stays at in the Underworld is the only place to find flowers with the exception of the Fields of Elisium.
- His gift for Hades was a trunk full of flowers with two Saints ready to assassinate the Lord of the Underworld.

- Mythical Name: After Orpheus from Greek Mythology.
- Real Men Wear Pink: In the colored version of the manga, his Cloth is light pink.
- Spell My Name with an 'S': The only Saint where people mix up his Cloth that he represents.
- Lyre: English name for the instrument that Orpheus carries.

- Star-Crossed Lovers: With Eurydice.
Lizard Misty[edit | hide]
Voiced By: Yuu Mizushima (JP)[edit | hide]
- Afraid of Blood: He goes to the sea and begins to wash it off. Seiya demands he fights him but first..
- Screw the Rules, I'm Beautiful: To top it off, he takes his time doing this because he knows Seiya won't try anything.
- Animal Motifs: The Lizard

Cepheus Albiore (Anime Only)[edit | hide]
Cepheus Daidalos (Manga Only)[edit | hide]
Voiced By: Keiichi Noda (JP)[edit | hide]
- Adaptational Attractiveness: In the anime, he had long blond hair and blue eyes and his Cloth was far more elaborate. To be fair, Cepheus Daidalos' name and design weren't finalized by the time the anime episode debuted.
- Adaptation Dye Job: Short black hair in the manga, long blond hair in the anime.
- Ascended Extra: In the manga, Daidalos only appeared in one chapter, he only had June and Shun as his trainees and while he was described as strong, he died easily with Aphrodite standing over his body. Aphrodite himself could barely remember it. In the anime, Albiore was in five episodes, he was far stronger and more handsome, given more students, and had a couple of extra scenes including one where he taught the cosmos to Shun.

- The Obi-Wan: To Shun.
- Parental Substitute: Both symbolically and literally.
- Spell My Name with an 'S': Daidalos? Didaros? Daidaros? Dedalo? Albiore? Alviore? Albion? Albione? Arubiore?
- Variable-Length Chain: In the anime, and one of his chains ends in a Cool Cross too!
- When He Smiles: Albiore. Stiff and nonchalant until Shun showed him his true strength.
- The manga version showed a different reaction.
Peacock Shiva and Lotus Agora (Anime Only)[edit | hide]
- Eerie Pale-Skinned Brunette: Shiva.
- Evil Redhead: Agora
- Kick the Dog: Killing Helen's grandpa for not collaborating, then throwing the little girl into a volcano to 'send her to Heaven'.
- Sensitive Guy and Manly Man: Shiva is the Sensitive Guy, Agora is the Manly Man.
- You Gotta Have Blue Hair: Dark green for Shiva, blood red for Agora.
Altar Ares[edit | hide]
- Continuity Snarl: At first he was just an evil-ierPalette Swap for the Pope. Then in the Secret History of Excalibur he seems to be the Number Two to the Pope and is killed by Saga. And even after that you have the Ares costume in the Episode G. And with every new addition it just keeps getting more and more confusing.

Voiced By: Kaneto Shiozawa and Takumi Yamazaki (JP)[edit | hide]
- Adaptation Dye Job: Blond in the manga with light green eyes.

Gemini Saga[edit | hide]
- Adaptation Dye Job: Blonde in the Manga.
- Alas, Poor Villain: Invoked by Dohko.
- Back from the Dead: Twice if you count the movie, Legend of Crimson Youth movie.
- Undeath Always Ends in the Hades Saga.
- Broken Ace: Averted. He was considered the strongest saint of his generation and most possible candidate for succeding the Pope, but Aioros was chosen and his envy as well as pushed him over the edge and allowed his evil self to take over.
- Brainwashed and Crazy: What his Genrou Mao Ken will do to you. Poor Aiolia.
- The Caligula: In the anime. In the Manga he was able to mantain a Reasonable Authority Figure until seiya and co. forced him to take more drastic actions.
- Dead Person Impersonation: With Shion.
- Driven to Suicide: Manga only. He takes the dagger he used on Shion and stabs himself with it.
- Dying as Yourself: In the end he is happy that his dark side won't cause anymore trouble.
- Fallen Hero.
- Lightning Bruiser: Though being a Gold Saint this is pretty much a staple.
- Master of Illusion: Easily one of most adept users along Shaka and Ikki. This is how he can duplicate his Temple and create an infinite maze wich can trap his opponents for an eternity.. unless someone breaks his concentration.
- No-Holds-Barred Beatdown: To Seiya and Ikki.
- Obvious Judas: Lampshaded by Saori in the anime.

Cancer Deathmask[edit | hide]
- Animal Motifs: The Crab
- But for Me It Was Tuesday: His nonchalant attitude towards killing kids.
- Dub Name Change: Mephisto in the American translation of the manga.
- Heel Face Turn: Much later in the story.
- Only Known by Their Nickname: You didn't actually think his real name was Deathmask, did you?
- Ironically either this name is his real name or not it can count as Meaningful Name not in literal way only, as it's a name of funeral tradition. And this troper is sure no one needs complete explanation of the procedure.
- Social Darwinist: When he explain hisreasons to Dohko.
- Undeath Always Ends in the Hades Saga.
Leo Aioria/Aiolia[edit | hide]
Voiced By: Hideyuki Tanaka (JP)[edit | hide]
- Animal Motifs: The lion
- Blood KnightandBrainwashed and Crazy
- Dead Older Brother: Aiolos.
- Heel Face Turn: Early in the story. During a mission he meets Athena/Saori Kido, the one he was supposed to protect. He understand the Pope had his brother framed and that he lied to him during 13 years. Aiolia doesn't need anymore reason to pull a Heel Face Turn.
- Last Stand: Against Radamanthys at Hades' castle.
- Lightning Bruiser: Literally.
- Mythological Name: Named after Aeolia, the home island of the wind god (Aeolus).
- Overranked Soldier: Gold Saint at seven years old
- Platonic Life Partners: To Marin, according to Word of God. The fandom had leaned more toward believing him to be her Unlucky Childhood Friend, though. In a Q&A, Kurumada used Shion to answer questions about their relationship, and Shion even 'said' Oh? I have never heard of that rumor. It's true that those two get along well, but it is just friendship like male bonding. Aiolia had to live under the disgrace of being a little brother of a traitor, there are inconsiderate people out there who wants to spread rumors about him. I wouldn't pay too much attention to them. And the sole reason Saints exist is to protect the peace of this world, as long as they have that reason, Saints must devote their mind and body to Athena which is the symbol of peace. Therefore, Sanctuary does not recoginze the love or marriage of a Saint but there are times when the life of one person to a Saint is more important than protecting the lives of the rest of the world. I have heard, in our long history, there are those who have decided to give up their rank as a Saint to protect that one person.'Not very savvyabout the female side of the fandom, that Kurumada.
- Pummel Duel: With Seiya.
- Rapid-Fire Fisticuffs: Coupled with lightning
Virgo Shaka[edit | hide]
Voiced By: Yuji Mitsuya (JP)[edit | hide]
- Anti-Hero: Type IV
- Adaptation Distillation: Due to an erased scene of his first meeting with Ikki and other adjustments to fit this change, Shaka became a big arrogant jerk in The Sanctuary Arc. The anime scriptwriters seem to have a grudge against Shaka or something, such as creating an episode where Shaka send his disciples to kill Ikki, not to mention cheating in that fight by helping his disciples when it's already a 2 against 1 fight. Thus this anime only event didn't help Shaka's image the slightest. This caused some fans who only watch anime wonder why Shaka seems to behave differently in Hades arc, as this arc followed Shaka's characterization from the manga closer.
- Or maybe the Character Development hit Shaka later in the manga, thus the writers didn't have much info on him in their hands back the and had to use their own Alternate Character Interpretations to fill in?
- Adaptation Dye Job: Adverted. Shaka is indeed the only blond Gold saints who is saved from hair dye, and due to his Eyes Always Shut this troper just realized recently that Shaka have green eyes in manga, therefore Shaka still got an eye dye. His eyes were blue in the original TV series.
- Awesomeness By Analysis: He takes out each of the Bronze Saints and then goes on to explain how his attack would kill them if he chose to go any further with it.
- Disability Superpower: Inverted, he pretends to be blind so he can concentrate on limiting his power.
- He never pretend to be one actually, since it seems everyone who knows him know he is not blind.
- Dissonant Serenity: AND HOW. He's calm, soft-spoken, and utterly ruthless when fighting.
- Dude Looks Like a Lady: Just don't tell him that.
- It's mostly the Badass Long Hair and how having his Eyes Always Shut make his lashes look longer than they really are. so yeah, he looks kinda feminine, but not to Aphrodite levels.
- He is the Virgo Saint for crying out loud, and his temple called Temple of Maiden.
- Some of his fans nickname him barbie in their fanfics, and believe me if you can read spanish or portuguese fanfics you will find quite a lot that mention he looks like Barbie.
- Enlightenment Superpowers:
- Eyes Always Shut: And sweet merciful Athena, DON'T MAKE HIM OPEN THEM.
- Facial Markings: A tilaka on his forehead.
- Guile Hero: Isn't above manipulating his friends, fellow Saints and disciples as much as he manipulates his rivals.
- Evil Counterpart : To Shun. Both have 'female' clothes and both are reincarnations of gods
- Honor Before Reason: Shaka at the first glance is nothing like Shun, especially if you only watch the anime. But he somehow can fit in this category because ha CAN do it smartly and deal with the after effect.Other characters in the manga say of Shaka, “although he is like a God, he still has a weakness. He is too compassionate.”and if any Saint Seiya's fans out there hear the latter part they would think it refer to Shun.
- He might be not as merciful as Shun but of all gold saints he is the only one who ever bother to refuse a fight and never got bored of keep giving his enemies or opponents a chance to leave first. In manga he refusef Ikki's challenge in Death Queen Island, knocked the light out of him after warned him to not let the evil around him take control of his soul, and will kill Ikki only if he come before Shaka as enemy. When Shaka confronted Aiolia in Pope's chamber, he told Aiolia to the the HELL out (which actually was a good advice, but Aiolia was so pumped up that he didn't listen). Shaka openly ignored the Bronze saints who invade his temple, and attacked after Seiya attacked him first. He also gave Ikki a chance to give up the fight unharmed, though he didn't ask it nicely. In Hades arc Shaka fully intended to kill all Specters that left when they entered his temple, but strangely later he told them to leave and killed them after they tried to attack him.
- Living on Borrowed Time: For a few minutes, after receiving the Athena's exclamation. He manages to send a message to Athena and then search for a nice dying place under the trees.
- Meaningful Name: The historical Buddha was called “Sakyamuni”, meaning “sage of the Sakya clan”. The Japanese transliteration of “Sakya” is “Shaka”.
- Meditation Powerup: The Trope Image
- Mind Rape: So good at it that he is only one who can mind rape Ikki.
- Overranked Soldier: Gold Saint at seven years old.
- Physical God: Because he is..
- Reincarnation: Of Buddha. Yes, THAT Buddha. Yeah, Ikki was all Oh Crap when he was told about it.
- Actually that would be only in the dub since Shaka is not Buddha but a Buddha (when a person becomes enlightened, his consciousness escapes the cycle of reincarnation) which may explain why in Hades he's talking to Siddhartha Gautama as a kid.
- Suicide by Cop: To trigger his..
- Thanatos Gambit: In the Hades arc.
- Tranquil Fury: In the few times he gets pissed.
- Undeath Always Ends: What he does to any specter that crosses his path and IT IS AWESOME!
- What Is Evil?: His 'many justices exist' speech has undertones of this.
Libra Dohko[edit | hide]
- Achilles in His Tent: Averted, as he's just following orders he had received from Athena in the previous holy war -- To watch, and prepare for the time the new holy war would begin.
- Adaptation Dye Job: Black hair in the manga, but dark brown in the anime.
- Animal Motifs: Tiger
- Good Is Not Dumb: Didn't trust the Pope AT ALL.
- Hermit Guru: Face it, they hired Yoda to play him.
- I Was Quite a Looker: Was a gorgeous Dark-Skinned Redhead when young. And he still is.
- Tall, Dark and Handsome: His hair was black in the manga.
- Meaningful Name: Dohko means 'great tiger'. And he has a tiger tatoo on his back.
- Mentor Occupational Hazard: To Shiryu.
- Miniature Senior Citizens: With purple skin no less.
- Multi Melee Master: He carries around something like six couple of various weapons (including shields, spears and flails) and can share them with the other Gold Saints.
- Old Master: Subverted
- Parental Substitute: To both Shiryu and Shunrei.
- Put on a Bus: During most of Hades: Inferno until the very end.
- Rank Up: The Spin Offs revealed that he once was a Bronze Saint, Dragon Dohko; promoted to Libra Dohko in time for the Holy War.

- Heel Realization: Upon seeinmg Hyoga's determination.
- Kick the Dog: What he did in Andromeda Island, in the anime.
- Would Hurt a Child (anime only): Most of the trainees that were killed on the island were children.
- Overranked Soldier: Earned his Gold Cloth at age seven.
- Last Stand: Against Radamanthys at Hades' castle.
- Right Makes Might: Averted. He actually BEATS Hyoga, but lets him pass because of the other's impressive determination that makes him question his own motives.
- That Battle Didnt Count: Milo realizes that in the end of the fight that Hyoga was fighting on a level higher than him and the only reason he won was his Gold Cloth.
- Secret Keeper: in the anime, he knew his old friend Aquarius Camus's real motivations and fought Hyoga because of this.
- Speed Blitz: Milo's demonstration to Seiya and Shiryu about how the Light Speed of Gold Saints is more advance than the Bronze Saints.

Aquarius Camus[edit | hide]
Voiced By: Rokuro Naya (1986-2004 JP), Nobutoshi Canna (2005 JP)[edit | hide]
Saint Seiya Asgard Full Episodes Free
- Adaptation Distillation: Due to the Crystal Saint being Hyoga's teacher, Camus came off as more of a one-dimensional jerk in the anime.
- Not really, if you recall his two Cry Cute moments. It was more of a Jerkass Facade.
- Adaptation Dye Job: He was a redhead in the manga, but the anime gave him dark blue hair.
- Back from the Dead: Twice if you count the movie, Legend of Crimson Youth movie.
- Undeath Always Ends in the Hades Saga.
- Evil Counterpart: To Hyoga
- Fiery Redhead: Averted in the manga. Quite literally, too, since not only does he preach emotional detachment, but his powers are based on ice too.
- French Jerk: See the I Did What I Had to Do entry.
- Glowing Eyes of Doom: Happens the first time he uses his Aurora Execution against Hyoga
- Human Popsicle: One of his attacks.
- Kuudere: Specially in the anime.

- Mentor Occupational Hazard: To Hyoga.
- Named After Somebody Famous: Albert Camus, a French author.
- Overranked Soldier: Earned his Gold Cloth at age seven.
- Perverse Sexual Lust: Apparently, even more so than the other Gold Saints. An almost impossible feat, considering fandom's feelings toward the Gold Saints are..let's just say saying they are strong feelings would be quite the understatement.
- Rapunzel Hair: It extended past his knees at times.
- Tertiary Sexual Characteristics: He has red nails in manga that match his red hair. The official reason Kurumada ever come up with is because Aquarius represents Ganymede, an androgynous figure from Greek mythology. And maybe why yaoi fangirls think he is an Ho Yay character in Saint Seiya second only to his disciple and Andromeda Shun. And Hades arc help this with Adaptation Distillation. in manga it's Saga who Milo helped to walk to Main Temple but in anime it's Camus complete with scene where Milo was crying as choking him. And their yaoi fangirls squee
- You Gotta Have Blue Hair: Blue-ish green.

- Something About a Rose
- Mythological Name: Aphrodite is the Greek Goddess of love.

Ohko (Anime Only)[edit | hide]
- Animal Motifs: Tiger
- Cain and Abel: In the childhood friends sense, to Shiryu.

- Plucky Girl: This is the girl who, after helplessly watching her grandfather's murder at the hands of Shiva and Agora and being thrown alive inside a burning volcano, manages to hold on the burning rock walls and climb her way up, which gives a dying Ikki his Heroic Resolve back..
- Women in RefrigeratorsThankfully averted: Shiva and Agora do invoke the trope and try to fridge her with the volcano deal, but she survives.
- What the Hell, Hero?: Tries to deal it to Shiva and Agora. It backfires.
- Yamato Nadeshiko: Despite being Greek.
Natasha[edit | hide]
Voiced by: Akiko Tsuboi (JP) and Dorothée Jemma (FR)[edit | hide]
- Posthumous Character: In every version except the DiC dub. which case she's..
- Cursed: While trying to protect young Hyoga, an evil sorcerer attacked. She was so weak and alas they were too strong. Now she sleeps in the bottom of the ocean awaiting the day that her beloved son, Hyoga will win the Gold Cloth and use its power to wake her up. Believe it or not, this is the summary that Hyoga gave while using his surfer accent.
- The Lost Lenore: To Hyoga.

Warning: Spoilers!
Classic series
- Adaptational Badass: In the PS3 game 'Brave Soldiers', she is playable character.
- And I Must Scream: After she was freed, it's revealed that Poseidon locked her spirit away in the Nibelung Ring as her body was controlled by him, torturing her psychologically while she could only watch her warriors die one by one.
- Annoying Laugh: Evil Hilda.
- Barrier Maiden: Her prays to Odin are what keeps the polar ice caps from melting.
- Big Good: In Saint Seiya: Soul of Gold where, knowing she is still too weak from her illness, she entrusted the mission of stopping Andreas to Lyfia.
- Blade on a Stick: Evil Hilda's weapon (she uses this mostly against Seiya).
- Brainwashed and Crazy: She is possessed by the Nibelungen Ring (controlled by Poseidon) after rejecting his offer, and sets her sights on world domination in the name of Odin. She is liberated after fighting Seiya, who awakened the Odin God Robe and the legendary sword Balmung with all Odin Sapphires, removing the ring, after which she returns to her gentle self.
- Break the Cutie: As her body was taken over, her mind was trapped into the Ring of the Nibelungs and continuously mindraped into watching her warriors die.
- The Bus Came Back: She reappears in Saint Seiya: Soul of Gold. Having fallen under some strange illness, Hilda prays for Lyfia to save Asgard by defeating Andreas and stopping his evil schemes.
- Dark Is Evil: Evil Hilda wears black and red dress.
- Dark Messiah / Lady of War: As Odin's representative on Earth and the priestess of Asgard, she became this when she got Brainwashed and Crazy and started waging war against Athena.
- Evil Costume Switch: From a sweet Woman in White to a regal black dress.
- High Priestess: Of Odin.
- Incorruptible Pure Pureness: Poseidon initially tries to convince her to willingly serve her. Hilda was having none of this, leading Poseidon to resort to Nibelungen's Ring.
- Princesses Rule: Her parents are never seen and she governs effectively. Certainly, by averting the queen title, being called a princess emphasize she was a kind person before being Brainwashed and Crazy.
- Villains Out Shopping: Tends to her garden, feeds her crows, etc.

- The Bus Came Back: She reappears in Saint Seiya: Soul of Gold as cameo.
- Defector from Decadence: Freya detected a dark change in the personality of her sister, as Hilda had been noted for her kindness and compassion.
- Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: Has long blonde hair and is very nice.
- Princesses Prefer Pink: Her belt and Hair Decorations.
- Ship Tease: With Hagen and Hyoga. Tha last becomes the reason of Hagen's jealousy and rage.
- Spell My Name with an 'S': In the Spanish dub, she's called Flehr. The french version also interpreted Freya as Flare which got translated to Flame.
- Token Good Teammate: Become this, of the Asgard people, when Hilda turn evil.
- Unlucky Childhood Friend: To her childhood friend Hagen. She asks Hagen to help the Saints of Athena, in order to save her sister, but this enrages him, as he thinks Hyoga has convinced Freya to turn against Asgard and attacks them both. Hyoga is then forced to kill him.
- Woman in White: Wears a white dress.
- Achilles' Heel: The weak spot on his back.
- Anti-Villain: He is a noble and good warrior, loyal to Hilda. Seiya tells Hilda that she was under control of the Nibelung ring, but unfortunately Siegfried does not believe it and considers his words are nonsense.
- Determinator: Siegfried still had such stamina and power after his battle with the Bronze Saints that when Sorrento appeared, Siegfried not only pierced his ears in an attempt to nullify Sorrento's Dead End Symphony but was actually able to come within melee distance despite his injuries from Seiya. He even got pierced through the heart by Sorrento but Siegfried had the reserves and willpower to gather his Cosmo and take Sorrento with him in a suicide attack similar to Shiryu's Rozan Koryuha. Sorrento would have died in the attack if he didn't use illusions to weaken Siegfried's grip enough to pull out his flute and play music to make Siegfried lose control and let go of him.
- Blood Bath: His namesake from the Nibelungenlied slayed a dragon and bathed in its blood, making himself invulnerable, but at that very moment a tiny leaf falls on his back (coincidentally over his heart), preventing that bit of skin from being touched by the blood, and therefore made that spot the only part of his body that can be dealt a mortal blow. Therefore, the God Warrior Siegfried inherited his destiny, invulnerability and weaknesses.
- Bodyguard Crush: Siegfried loved Hilda secretly in his heart, and vowed to protect her with his life.
- The Dragon: No pun intended.
- Evil Counterpart: Blatantly intended to be Shiryu's counterpart, with the dragon-like armor and Achilles' Heel. Even moreso in the Spanish version of the Soldiers Soul videogame where he's played by Shiryu's voice actor.
- Honor Before Reason / My Master, Right or Wrong: He noticed that Hilda had changed, becoming more aggressive and power hungry soon after. He was additionally warned by Freya that a drastic change had come over the priestess of Asgard. Siegfried didn't believe Freya and, despite Hilda's altered personality, he remained loyal to her.
- Nigh Invulnerable: As mentioned above inherited from his namesake the invulnerability.
- One-Man Army: Took on all the main Bronzies simultaneously in a brutal curbstomp. Shiryu almost resorted to Rozan Kōryūha but was stopped by Shura's spirit because it would have destroyed the Odin Sapphire. It was only after getting beaten brutally that Shiryu was able to find Siegfried's weakness that Seiya was able to change the tides of the battle.
- Taking You with Me: When Siren Sorento, one of the Poseidon's Mariner Generals, appears and tells how as Polaris Hilda was changed by the Nibelungen Ring; Siegfried, full of anger, faces Sorrento and tries to kill him in the same way Dragon Shiryu did with Capricorn Shura. However, Sorrento escapes and survives the attack, but not Siegfried, who died in the process.
- Animal Motifs: Horse (Sleipnir).
- An Ice PersonandMagma Man: Dominates both the cold and the heat.
- Crazy Jealous Guy: He loves Freya and upon learning that she had left Asgard with Hyoga, he flew into a rage and chased the Cygnus Saint in an apparent fit of jealousy. This got worse when she prevented him from throwing Hyōga body in the magma.
- Dark-Skinned Blond: Has blonde hair and dark skin.
- Home Field Advantage: He lures Hyoga inside of the magma cavern where he trained. The former being an ice warrior ends up at terrible disadvantage against the fire tempered Hagen.
- Never My Fault: He blames Hyoga for having 'manipulated' Freya and attacks them both.
- Unlucky Childhood Friend: To Freya. Hyoga is forced to kill him, and Freya, after waking up and realize what happened, wept bitterly due to the departure of her friend.
- Why Did You Make Me Hit You?: Hagen, dominated by jealousy, did not hesitate to attack even Freya with all his might.
- Yandere: For Freya and he wants to Murder the Hypotenuse in regards to Hyoga. He ends up attacking both.
- Animal Motifs: Snake (Jormungand)
- An Axe to Grind: Thor uses twin axes named 'Mjolnir'.
- The Brute: For the God Warriors. He is really big and strong, but is also a good guy.
- Dual Wielding: Use Two axes.
- Gentle Giant: Is actually this deep down. In his backstory we watch he shared his food with poor families in Asgard.
- Honor Before Reason: He noticed the change in Hilda, and acknowledges with his dying breath that Seiya was right and the Saints are probably the only ones who can restore Hilda.
- Just Like Robin Hood: His backstory. Owner of a kind heart, the giant Thor shared his food with poor families in Asgard. One day, he was attacked by castle guards who wounded him in the arm. Suddenly Polaris Hilda appears, asking her subordinates to stop attacking and heal him.
- Meaningful Name: His named on the famous thunder god of Norse Mythology. Ironically his armor is based on the Jörmungandr, an archenemy of Thor.
- Black Sheep: None of the other Warrior Gods trust him in the very least, and they're right not to do so.
- Combat Pragmatist: Since he has a weak body but quite versatile powers, he uses those and his knowledge without any mercy.
- Crystal Prison: A nasty version. He can summon the 'Amethyst Shield' —an attack that sends shards of amethyst flying from his body and towards the enemy, encasing him or her in a shell of translucent gemstone. If they're not freed, victims will be robbed of their lifeforce, and eventually become skeletons trapped in amethyst. And the only way to really free them is to kill Alberich himself. That almost happens to Marin and later Seiya, and Shiryu has to save them both via fighting Alberich to the death.
- Dirty Coward: He tries to use the people trapped in the amethyst as hostages. Works with Seiya, but not with Hyoga.
- Evil Genius: His intelligence has caused some tensions with peers and Hilda herself, who had asked him to work for the joy of others, and not for selfish desires.
- Evil Redhead: Has reddish/pink hair and is the most evil of Warriors Gods of Asgard.
- Flaming Sword: Megrez has a sword that comes together with his armor and has a flame of its own. He can control these flames and can shred and burn all before them.
- Glass Cannon: Is basically the God Warrior version of this, because of his weak body. Even Silver Saints like Marin can inflict severe punishment on him.
- Green Thumb: The attack Nature Unity. It is considered one of the most powerful and appealing techniques in the anime series. With this, Alberich can manipulate the spirits of nature as he wishes and can use them to attack or to defend himself. Any form of nature that he is close to a radius of several meters is to be fully controlled.
- Hidden Badass: Through his wits, he defeated three Saints on his own before he reached an insurmountable mountain with Dragon Shiryu, who is notorious for disregarding his own body safety to win.
- Invincible Villain: Glass Cannon he may be, but he stopped a Silver Saint, two Bronzes, and almost a third Bronze before being put down.
- The Last of These Is Not Like the Others: He is shown to be one of the most practical and smartest characters ever to don armor in the series. In spite of not being that strong, he is extremely dangerous regardless because of his cunning. In addition, he's the only one among the God Warriors being completely evil, only manipulating Hilda and the others and taking advantage of the war with Athena and her Saints, all for his own ambition to rule Asgard, or even the whole world if that was possible for him.
- Magic Knight: Alberich is nothing if not versatile: while most fighters in the series follow a motif or pattern in their signature skills, he has three vastly different methods of attack. Amethyst Shield and Nature Unity let him attack from a distance with unblockable, deadly, magic-like powers, and if all else fails and he has to fight up-close, he can draw out an Infinity Plus OneFlaming Sword that's said to cut through anything and can't be extinguished. Therefore, enemies that come at him with their own specialized attacks might learn to overcome one of his powers, only to be surprised and curbstomped by another.
- Manipulative Bastard: He was the only God Warrior who harbored a secret ambition to dominate Asgard. He immediately noticed the change in Hilda and its origin, yet he only stood there without doing anything, letting the situation progress until actual open war, so that he could accomplish his goal of collecting the seven Odin Sapphires to kill Hilda himself with the Balmung sword.
- Meaningful Name: He's named after the dwarf king Alberich from the Niebelungen, an equally ambitious character.
- No Ontological Inertia: When he dies, his crystal prisons are dispelled.
- Secret Keeper: He was the only Asgard God Warrior who knew Hilda was Brainwashed and Crazy.
- The Starscream: He knew right off the bat that something was off about Hilda, and planned to manipulate the situation to place himself at the top of the food chain in Asgard—and, by extension, the world.
- Then Let Me Be Evil: Before being controlled by Poseidon's ring, Hilda tended to reproach him because she knew that he was extremely intelligent, but uncaring and nonconstructive.
- Token Evil Teammate: He is the only God Warrior without an Undying Loyalty to Hilda and plans to dominate Asgard by taking advantage of the war with Athena.
- Weak, but Skilled: Despite his apparent weakness, he defeated Marin, Seiya and Hyoga.
- You Gotta Have Blue Hair: Has pink hair.

- Animal Motifs: Wolf obviously. (Fenrir)
- Break the Cutie: His backstory. Fenrir was the son of one of the most powerful and rich families in Asgard. One day, when he and his family went hunting, they were attacked by a bear. Abandoned by humans but saved by wolves, he started to live with them, adopting their lifestyle and developing a deep hatred towards humans. Which leads him to cross the Despair Event Horizon and become a Woobie, Destroyer of Worlds.
- Don't You Dare Pity Me!: To Shiryu.
- Canine Companion: A whole pack of wolves.
- Fallen Prince: He was the son of one of the most powerful and rich families in Asgard.
- Freudian Excuse: He hates and mistrust humans because after his parents were killed by a gain bear, he was abandoned by other humans, being rescued by a pack of wolves.
- Not Good with People: A rather extreme case, bordering on Misanthrope Supreme. His loyalty and care for his wolf pack is absolute, but he hates humans with a burning passion.
- Raised by Wolves: Literally.
- Wild Child: Living with wolves, he adopting their life style.
- Wolverine Claws: His Northern Wolf Pack Claws. Fenrir concentrates his Cosmo in his fists, which then appears to sharpen the claws on his armor, which he uses as a medium when throwing his fists at the speed of light, projecting his claws, ripping through the opponent's body and causing injuries similar to a wolf's claws.
- Always Someone Better: For his twin Alcor.
- Animal Motifs: Tigers.
- An Ice Person: His first attack Viking Tiger Claw producing a slight freezing effect in the body of his enemy. In Syd's strongest technique Blue Impulse, after lifting and opening his arms, icebergs appear to his back as a sort of big blue atom is created from his Odin Sapphire, which is released after breaking the ice.
- Cain and Abel: And maybe one of the most tragic cases ever, as he always knew who Bud was and genuinely cared for him, but could never tell him that he did..
- Curb-Stomp Battle: He faces off with a few of the minor Bronze Saints, dispatching Jabu, Ban, Nachi, Ichi and Geki with a flick of the hand.
- Separated at Birth: Bud was abandoned by his parents at birth to be raised by a peasant couple, as an alternative to killing him. Syd recognized him when they were children and realized their fate as twins.
- You Gotta Have Blue Hair: Has green hair.
- An Ice Person: Uses a similar attack to his brother. Far more powerful though.
- Animal Motifs: White tiger Byakko, in opposition to Phoenix Ikki as Suzaku.
- Big Brother Instinct: He'll probably deny it too.
- Cain and Abel Subverted. He only believes himself to be the Cain to Syd's Abel.
- Freudian Excuse: See Separated at Birth.
- Mysterious Protector: Took out Aldebaran to protect his brother. He denied it, though.
- Separated at Birth: Bud was abandoned by his parents at birth to be raised by a peasant couple. Syd recognized him when they were children and realized their fate as twins.
- Tsundere: Tries hard to deny that he has any feelings towards Syd. Goes batshit when Ikki sees through him and uses his powers to prove it.
- You Gotta Have Blue Hair: Green, just like his brother.
- Abusive Parents: His adoptive father Volker abused him because he preferred to play the harp rather than fighting. See Self-Made Orphan for more info.
- Badass Pacifist: Initially Shun could not use their chains to attack, because they did not recognize Mime as an enemy. He easily beats Shun within an inch of his life, and gave such a hell of a fight to Ikki that he collapsed from exhaustion afterwards.
- Expy: To Lyra Orpheus of the first Saint Seiya movie. He uses the exact same soundtrack.
- Freudian Excuse: See Abusive Parents.
- Magic Music: Mime can use his harp to create illusions of himself playing the harp, deceiving the enemy, before proceeding to unleash insanely fast blows only shown as white rays of energy.
- Musical Assassin: His attack Stringer Requiem. Mime plays his harp, and several strings of Razor Floss are fired at his opponent. The strings begin to strangle the opponent. Mime plays the harp while the sound waves of music make his opponent feel an unbearable pain. When the music reaches the last chord, the opponent dies.
- Self-Made Orphan: He snaps when Volker tells him that he murdered his biological parents and kills him. Little did he know, though, that it was a part of Volker's Thanatos Gambit: he wanted to both atone for the accidental killing of Mime's family and die in battle instead of his long-time illness, so he put on a Jerk Ass Facade for many years. In reality he always loved Mime like a son, and once risked his own life to get him medical attention, but due to his honor issues he could never show it.
- Razor Floss: He is prone to laying down these around the environment as traps, as well as send them flying towards his opponents to entangle them. Note that his harp's strings are strong, and sharp enough, to crack and cut through solid rock, as well as Bronze Cloths and the very human skin of the Saints wearing them. These also saved him from a very nasty death at the hands of Shun's Nebula Storm.

Soul of Gold
- Beauty Is Never Tarnished: Despite being on the receiving end of an arrow and having said arrow go right through his eye socket not only it still is fully functional; it only left a couple scars.
- Turns out that the arrow is completely entered in the his left eye.
- Big Bad: The central antagonist of the series.
- Dark Messiah: Wants to revive Yggdrasil but bringing upon The End of the World as We Know It as a result.
- Demonic Possession: Loki did this to him in the past.
- Evil Overlord: Got into power after Hilda fell sick.
- Evil Plan: He reveals that his true objective is to nurture the fruit of Yggdrasil using the Gold Cloths' power, and because of that he manipulated Lyfia into reviving the Gold Saints.
- Evil Red Head: Has long red hair. Until Loki possesses him◊, since his hair grows purple instead.
- Eye Scream: Double subverted. Initially he seems not to have been damaged by Aiolos arrow. Turns out that the arrow is completely entered in the his left eye.
- Green Thumb: He has control over Yggdrassil's roots and branches.
- More Than Mind Control: Loki is using him to revive himself through Yggdrasil. Once several Gold Saints appear to disrupt the plan Andreas gets possessed by Loki.
- Villain with Good Publicity: Appearing as a nice and gentle man to the villagers.
- Further helped by the fact that Yggdrasil is improving people's lives and they don't know it will cause The End of the World as We Know It.
- Well-Intentioned Extremist: See the Dark Messiah entry.
- Attack Drone: He can remotely manipulate his sword in order to achieve this effect.
- Arrogant Kung-Fu Guy: Very proud of his abilities and with excellent reasons to be so, as he was capable of matching Aioria's power and skill with those of his own.
- The Cape: He has a fair share of heroic qualities; including loyalty, bravery, honor, zeal and love. He would've been a magnificent hero if he wasn't fighting for the villainous side.. And in the end, he becomes just that.
- Beam Spam: His signature move. He launches it in a similar way to Seiya's Pegasus Ryu Sei Ken and Aiorias' Lighting Plasma, which are also classic examples of this trope.
- Bifurcated Weapon: His sword can split into multiple fragments that he can control remotely.
- Childhood Friends: With Lyfia. He become a God warrior in order to be able to protect her.
- Cool Sword: Siegschwert. Because he's able to fragment it and control it remotely, it also serves as a Flechette Storm and Storm of Blades all in one!
- The Dragon: If not the leader of the new God Warriors, he'll definitely be this to Andreas.
- Heel–Face Turn: After Lyfia is killed by Utgard, he defects from the side of the God Warriors by letting Aiolia go and fighting against Utgard.
- Honor Before Reason: His blind devotion to Asgard's well-being and future prevented him to see the misery Andreas had brought upon them all since he revived Yggdrasil. His true Heel–Face Turn happens when he finally manages to see that truth.
- Multi-Melee Master: He excels in combat with both swords and fists.
- The Rival: To Aioria since episode 1.
- Ax-Crazy: See Mad Scientist below.
- The Evil Genius: He's seen experimenting with the roots of Yggdrasil.
- Fate Worse than Death: Deathmask, knowing that he can't kill Fafner or else Helena's siblings will die, traps his body in the Yomotsu Hirasaka, the entrance to the world of the dead, instead, leaving the bastard between life and death for all of eternity.
- For the Evulz: Is considered the most vicious and cruel God Warrior.
- Gonk: The ugliest of the God Warriors.
- Jerkass: Which makes his final fate at the hands of Deathmask all the more satisfying.
- Mad Scientist: Fafner is willingly using anything or anyone to use in his experimentations, even humans.
- Morally Ambiguous Doctorate: One of the ways he obtains his research material is by pretending to offer the sick among Asgard free treatment. Which helps boost Andreas's public image.
- The Brute: The strongest and the largest of the seven God Warriors.
- Curb-Stomp Battle: Heracles fought Aldebaran twice during the series. Both times, Aldebaran outmatched him.
- Died in Your Arms Tonight: Tried to use this to stop Aldebaran from destroying the statue that he's guarding. It didn't work.
- Evil Counterpart: Towards Aldebaran, right down to using the same pose as him.
- Ignored Epiphany: Realizes he had lost his way during his final batle with Aldebaran, but chooses to die fighting against him anyways.
- Would Hurt a Child: More than willing to attack children if it will get Aldebaran to fight him.
- The Berserker: Under Andreas' Mind Control. Bonus points for becoming an actual Berserker.
- BFS / Whip Sword: Concept artwork of his sword shows that yes, it's pretty big and it can bend in a way that resembles a dragon's tail.
- Curb-Stomp Battle: Easily defeated by Saga. To put this into perspective, Saga heavily damaged Sigmund's God Robe with a casual unnamed attack as well as being unable to mount a significant enough offensive against the Gold Saint throughout their entire battle.
- Heel–Face Turn: Once his brother's spirit, through his God Robe, and Saga convince him that vengeance is not what Siegfried would have wanted.
- It's Personal: He's Siegfried's older brother and considers him a victim of the war between Athena and Poseidon.
- Red Oni, Blue Oni: The Red towards Surt's Blue.
- Remember the New Guy?: No hints of Siegfried having a brother were given during the Asgard Arc. Soul of Gold explains that he was imprisoned for speaking out against the possessed Hilda.
- Revenge Before Reason: He knew how Siegfried died, but blames both Athena and Poseidon for his death anyway.
- Affably Evil: His treatment of Camus and his open trust towards him.
- Combat Pragmatist: Had no qualms about setting a trap for Milo, knowing his duel with Camus would result in a stalemate.
- Expy: Of Marine General Kraken Isaac from the Poseidon Saga. Much like Cygnus Hyoga was the sparring partner of, and has a personal debt to Isaac, Camus was the sparring partner of Surt, and has a debt to pay too.
- Flaming Sword: His weapon is a sword with a blue flame.
- Red Oni, Blue Oni: Blue towards Sigmund, ironically.
- Used to Be a Sweet Kid: He was a Childhood Friend of Camus' and they got along very well. The accidental death of his sister by Camus' hand became his Start of Darkness.
- Villainous Friendship: With Camus.
- A God I Am: Thinks himself to have become one once he bargained with a god for power. Shaka puts him in his place very quickly.
- Blessed with Suck: He was given god-like invulnerability in exchange for his love of humanity and his sense of remorse. Once Shaka defeats him, all the damage he didn't receive through all the years collectively battered on him in a manner of minutes, to which Shaka had the grace of numbing his senses so that he could die a peaceful death at the least.
- Evil Counterpart: Towards Shaka.
- Instant Runes: One of his powers. He can channel two of the major Nordic Runes.
- Immortality: Is said to be immortal.
- Revealed in episode 8 to actually be a form of Nigh-Invulnerability and Made of Diamond which he attained when he bartered with a god (whom he thought to be Odin but was most likely Loki instead if the sealed vase is any indication).
- Lack of Empathy: Lost his ability to empathize with others when he became immortal.
- Nigh-Invulnerability: His actual power. Broken when Shaka finally takes off the gloves and uses his Tenbu Hōrin to break the spell.
